Goals

As of May 2024:

Academic Goals

I am currently pursuing a doctorate of philosophy in nutritional biology. Mentored by Dr. Francene Steinberg, I am studying the effectiveness and implementation of the DASH diet for heart failure management. I anticipated graduating with my PhD in summer 2024.

Professional Goals

I aspire to work in academia conducting research and teaching as a tenure-track professor. I am seeking a postdoctoral fellowship appointment in implementation and health systems science to complement my clinical research training.

Research Interests

My dissertation research has inspired pursuit of formal implementation science training with behavioral and cardiovascular health applications. I plan to apply implementation frameworks and PRECIS-2 in study design and evaluation, employ mixed methods and patient-centered outcomes, and design for dissemination, sustainability, and health equity. I recognize the impact of adapting to implementation barriers and facilitators, tailoring interventions for contextual appropriateness, and facilitating stakeholder engagement for implementation success.

Health systems and implementation science training will help me fulfill my research mission to promote cardiovascular health equity, optimized health care delivery, and patient-centeredness through the evaluation and implementation of evidence-based behavioral health interventions. With a paucity of hybrid research on clinical nutrition interventions, I will utilize my clinician scientist background as I dedicate my career to practical dietetics applications and studying the effectiveness and implementation of evidence-based interventions for cardiometabolic disease prevention and management.

Seeing parallels between patient care and education, I have secondary research interests in the interdisciplinary education of health care professionals and effects of provider perceptions on patient perceptions and health outcomes.
